Privacy Policy
Oki is a local-first personal computing system. This policy explains what information Oki handles, where it may go, and the choices you have when you use our websites, applications, hardware, and related services.
Last updated: September 2, 2026
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy describes how Oki Applications Inc. (“Oki,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) processes personal information in connection with Oki Home, Oki OS, the okihome.ai website, and related services (together, the “Services”).
Questions or privacy requests can be sent to founder@okihome.ai.
2. Information we collect
We aim to collect only what is needed to provide and improve the Services. The information we handle depends on the features you choose to use.
Account information
When you create or use an account, we may process information such as your email address, display name, account identifier, authentication status, and account preferences.
Your content
Oki may process files, photos, notes, pages, calendar data, messages, prompts, responses, and other content that you add to the Services. Oki is designed so that your personal content is stored on your Oki Home or its assigned private workspace. Some content may be sent elsewhere only when a feature you choose requires it, as described below.
Connected services
If you connect a third-party service, such as Google Workspace, we may process the account details, authorization tokens, and content needed to provide the integration. The permissions Oki requests are shown during authorization. You can disconnect an integration from Oki or the provider’s account settings.
AI requests
Oki can run models locally. If you select or enable a feature that uses a cloud model, the prompt and the minimum context needed to answer it may be sent to that model provider for processing. The information sent depends on your request and may include text, images, files, or relevant application context.
Reservations and payments
If you reserve or purchase Oki hardware, we process the contact and order information needed to create and support the order. Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe collects payment details and may collect billing, shipping, and contact information. We do not receive or store your full card number.
Waitlist and communications
If you join a waitlist, contact us, or ask for updates, we process the information you provide, such as your email address and the contents of your message, so we can respond and provide the requested communication.
Technical and diagnostic information
We and our infrastructure providers may process limited technical information needed to operate and secure the Services, such as IP address, device and browser type, request timestamps, service logs, crash details, and security events. Diagnostic packages are collected only when a feature or action makes that collection clear to you.
3. How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and personalize the Services;
- Authenticate accounts and keep workspaces separated;
- Process reservations, payments, and customer support;
- Operate features and integrations you choose to use;
- Protect the Services, prevent abuse, and diagnose problems;
- Comply with law and enforce our agreements; and
- Improve Oki using aggregated or de-identified information.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on the performance of a contract, your consent, compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Services.
4. Local-first storage and cloud processing
Oki Home is designed to keep your personal data and local model on hardware assigned to you. Browser storage may hold recoverable interface state or caches. Hosted access may use a private workspace and temporary transfer infrastructure to deliver content to your assigned system.
Local-first does not mean that no information ever leaves your device. Account authentication, remote access, connected services, payments, support, and optional cloud-model features require information to be processed by the relevant provider. We aim to limit that processing to what the selected feature needs.
5. When we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share the minimum information necessary with service providers that help us operate the Services, including providers for hosting and network protection, authentication, payment processing, communications, connected services, shipping, support, and optional cloud-model processing.
We may also disclose information when required by law; to protect users, Oki, or others; to investigate fraud or security issues; or as part of a corporate transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.
6. Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to provide the Services, maintain security, resolve disputes, and meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. Retention periods vary by the type of information and where it is stored.
Content stored on your Oki Home remains under your control. Information held by a connected service or other provider is also subject to that provider’s retention practices.
7. Your choices and rights
You can choose which content to add, whether to connect third-party services, and whether to use features that require cloud processing. You can revoke device or integration permissions through the relevant Oki, device, or provider settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent; or appeal a decision about a privacy request. To make a request, email founder@okihome.ai. We may need to verify your identity before completing it.
8. International transfers
Oki and its service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal information.
9. Security
We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, access controls, and workspace separation. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can review and address it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Oki and the law change. We will post the revised policy here and update the date above. We will provide additional notice when required by law.
